Attendee outlook#

  • Researchers and scientists in academia, industry, and government laboratories

  • Research software engineers, and maintainers of open source scientific libraries

  • Educators and faculty who teach computational work

  • Engineers working in modelling and simulation of physical systems

  • Data scientists and machine learning practitioners applying statistical and AI methods to complex data

  • HPC specialists and system administrators

  • Students and early-career contributors to scientific open source software

About previous editions#

  • 250 to 300 attendees, including students, researchers, faculty, and engineers from academia and industry

  • Thirteen editions from 2009 to 2021

  • Held at venues such as SPACE Kerala, ISB Hyderabad, and IIT Bombay

  • Satellite conferences in educational institutions in cities across India

Why sponsor us#

  • Reach the people who choose the tools. Our attendees pick the libraries, the platforms, and the hardware their labs and teams end up standardising on.

  • Hire. Two days in a room with researchers, engineers, and maintainers, with a job posting on our channels at the higher tiers.

  • Support the community. Your contribution keeps ticket prices low, so that more people can attend.

  • Spend less than an ad campaign would cost for an audience that is already paying attention!

  • Stand alongside the wider SciPy ecosystem. SciPy India is one of the family of conferences that includes SciPy US, EuroSciPy, SciPyData Japan, SciPy Latam, and the PyData events.

We name every sponsor in the closing remarks and thank you afterwards on our channels on all tiers.

Startup and small business discount: Startups and small businesses are eligible for a 50% reduction on the Gold and Silver tiers. You qualify if your organisation is under five years old and has fewer than twenty-five employees. Please tell us when you contact us! If you are just outside those limits and the full amount is out of reach, write to us anyway and we will see what we can arrange.

Don’t see a tier that fits your needs? Please write to sponsor@scipy.in to discuss your requirements and how we can accommodate them.

Scholarships and financial aid#

Whatever tier you pick, we can shape a part of your contribution around making the conference accessible for people who would otherwise not be able to attend. Please raise this when we have a conversation, and we can work out the details together:

  • Complimentary tickets for attendees selected through a financial aid process

  • Accommodation at or near the venue

  • Travel bursaries for speakers, volunteers, and attendees

  • Something else, shaped around your budget

You may also earmark a part of your contribution for scholarships. We would especially like to see participation in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) fields from:

  • Students and early-career researchers

  • Women and non-binary individuals

  • Members of the LGBTQIA+ community

  • Persons with disabilities

  • Religious and ethnic minorities

  • Members of Adivasi and tribal communities, and historically marginalised caste groups, including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC)

Sponsor one part of the conference#

If none of the tiers fit, you can fund one thing and be named against it.

  • Lunch or refreshments on one or both days of the conference

  • Recording and publishing the talks

  • T-shirts and other merchandise

In-kind contributions#

  • A venue or rooms for satellite events around the two days

  • Catering contributions for lunch or refreshments

  • Travel or accommodation for speakers

  • Printing, signage, and merchandise (T-shirts, stickers, etc.)

  • Video and photography needs for marketing and documentation

  • Cloud or compute credits for workshops that need them

What sponsorship does not include#

  • We are unable to provide speaking slots. Please submit a talk proposal through the call for proposals process. We will consider all proposals on their merit, and we do not give preference to sponsors.

  • We do not place sponsor content within the programme itself. Sponsor branding appears between sessions rather than during them, and sessions are not used for product promotion. Where your tier includes a video, it is played during a break and not from the stage.

Getting in touch#

Please write to sponsor@scipy.in. We will send you the current tier figures and arrange a call. Our sponsorship prospectus is also available as a PDF, should you need something to circulate internally.

Our fiscal host is the Association for Promotion of Free and Open Source Technologies. All sponsorship contributions are made to AFROST, which is a registered non-profit in India.

Contributions will be acknowledged on our website and in our programme, and we will provide a receipt for your contribution. We are happy to discuss custom sponsorship arrangements, and we welcome sponsors from various industries who share our commitment to scientific computing and data science.

Important

Payments will be directed through our ticketing platform, KonfHub. We will provide you with a link to make your contribution through KonfHub, and you will receive a receipt for your payment.
