Volunteer#
We are looking to form a programme committee for the SciPy India 2026 Conference. The committee is made up of volunteers who help with the conference in various ways, from reviewing proposals to running sessions on the day. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and levels of experience.

Please fill in our volunteer form and tell us a little about how you would like to help. There is no deadline, and we will get in touch with you once we have read your response.
If you would rather talk to us first, please write to info@scipy.in or introduce yourself on Zulip, where we conduct most of our activities publicly. You are welcome to get in touch even if you are not yet sure how you would like to contribute!
The areas in which we expect to need assistance are set out below. There is no need to settle on one before completing the form, and volunteers are welcome to contribute in more than one area.
Before the conference#
- Reviewing proposals
Reading submissions as part of our call for proposals, and contributing to the decisions that shape the programme. Familiarity with one or some of the tracks is sufficient. We do not require prior experience of reviewing proposals, and we will provide guidance on how to do so.
- Spreading the word
Circulating information about the conference, and about the call for proposals, among communities we may not otherwise reach, such as research lab mailing lists, university departments, internal channels at an employer, or local meetups, as part of SciPy India’s outreach and communications team. We will provide you with the information to share, and you can help us reach a wider audience.
- Approaching sponsors
It would be great if you could partake in outreach to potential sponsors, and help us find organisations that would like to support the conference (see our sponsorships page for more information)
- Suggesting keynote speakers
We will be inviting two keynote speakers, and your suggestions are welcome!
- Contributing to the website (code, blog posts, communications)
This site is built with Sphinx and Markdown, and the source is available on GitHub. Contributions to the content, the design, writing blogs and the code are all welcome. Web development experience is not a prerequisite.
Over the two days#
We anticipate needing volunteers, in-person, in the following roles:
Registration desk on both mornings
Session chairs, to introduce speakers and keep sessions to time
Room runners, for coordinating between the rooms
Audio-visual and recording operation
Photography
Workshop assistants
Code of Conduct contacts
After the conference#
Writing about the conference, as a summary of the two days for our news page and social media posts as part of our communications team
Preparing the recordings, which involves editing and captioning the talk videos ahead of their publication on our YouTube channel
